Food for Glowing Skin and Strong Hair
Beauty begins on the plate. These nutrients and everyday Indian foods support healthy skin and hair from within.
Skin and hair mirror your nutrition
Hair fall, dullness and breakouts can have many causes — hormones, stress, sleep, medical conditions and genetics among them. But low protein, iron, vitamin C and healthy fats are common contributors that food can help address.
Creams and oils help on the surface; food works from within. The best results come from doing both consistently.
Nutrients to prioritise
Build these into your regular meals rather than relying on a single “beauty food”:
- Protein: dal, eggs, paneer, curd, sprouts and lean meat — hair is made largely of protein
- Iron: spinach, beetroot, dates, seeds and legumes, with jaggery in small amounts
- Vitamin C: amla, guava, citrus fruits and capsicum — also helps iron absorption
- Omega-3 fats: flaxseeds, walnuts, chia seeds and fish
- Zinc: pumpkin seeds, chickpeas and nuts
- Hydration: water, coconut water and herbal teas such as hibiscus

Simple recipes that help
Healthy food does not have to be complicated. Try these everyday ideas:
What to reduce
Frequent sugary drinks, sweets and deep-fried snacks can add to inflammation and blood sugar swings for some people, which may show up in skin and energy. You do not need to give them up entirely — just keep them occasional.
Habits that support the results
Sleep seven to eight hours, drink enough water, manage stress, and protect your skin from the sun every day. Wash hair gently and avoid too much heat styling.
Give any change at least 8–12 weeks before judging results — hair and skin renew slowly.
Sudden or severe hair fall, persistent acne or other skin changes deserve a medical check-up to look for underlying causes.
